Books, leadership, advisory and practical frameworks

For organisations

There is a problem to solve, a team to build or a change to make work.

Better leadership. Better decisions. Better systems for people.

The thinking here comes from more than thirty years in commercial leadership, 25 of them alongside the NHS. It is practical, tested and plainly explained.

Philip M. Harvey

About Philip

Philip M. Harvey has more than thirty years of commercial experience across insurance, healthcare and medical technology, with Commercial Union (now Aviva), 3M Health Care and Stryker.

Insurance taught him risk management, profitable growth and how to run an office, along with his first experience of a merger. Across the 25 years in healthcare that followed, he worked extensively alongside the NHS in community, trust and hospital settings, including supporting more than 3,500 procedures in operating theatres.

He held senior UK roles across sales, marketing and regional leadership, led teams of more than forty people, and designed and delivered management development programmes internationally. His leadership has been recognised through multiple Stryker World Class Leader awards, including for business turnaround, integration and sustained commercial performance.

His work has included commercial strategy, organisational turnaround, recruitment and talent development, change and the integration of teams and businesses. Much of it came down to the same challenge: understanding what was really happening beneath the obvious problem, then turning that understanding into practical action.

That instinct now sits behind Daedalus Press. Philip writes, develops practical tools and works with people and organisations navigating change, growth and reinvention. He is also developing a non-executive portfolio, with a particular interest in healthcare.

Signals: Bend the Heading by Philip M. Harvey, shown as a hardback. A paper plane flies upward from a glowing globe, trailing a winding gold line across a navy cover.

Small changes in direction. Very different destinations.

A candid, often funny reflection on work, leadership and the people who shape us.

Drawing on more than thirty years of working life, Signals explores the patterns we only recognise afterwards: the assumptions worth reconsidering, the lessons experience teaches, and the small corrections that change where we end up.

At its heart is one convictionLeadership is the amplification of human potential.

A personal development tool that brings the discipline of a strategic review to dream material: recording it consistently, tracking patterns over time and testing what it suggests against waking life, decisions and performance.

Field Manual for Individual Performance

Build a life around what matters.

What does a well-lived life actually look like?

A personal coaching system for developing yourself deliberately, across work, relationships, identity, purpose, health, curiosity, fulfilment and contribution.

Wings and labyrinths

Daedalus was both dreamer and engineer. He imagined flight, but he also understood structure, systems and craft. That tension runs through the work here.

Wings

Possibility, creativity, imagination, growth.

Labyrinth

Structure, systems, craft, practical execution.

Reflection without action goes nowhere. Action without reflection can take us somewhere we never intended to go.
